Bane Zelen

(Person, Yugoslavia)

Just a guy whom I knew from MPSŠC for a couple of years, I'd say 1983-85. He then moved to work in the pharmaceutical plant and our paths rarely crossed henceforth, perhaps half a dozen times in forty years, but each time we'd recognize each other and talk as if we met yesterday.

Surname is something ordinary, Jovanović, Popović or some such, and the nickname is from the students, means both green (as adjective with indefinite article) and parsley. That's because he looks youngish. Probably just a couple of years younger than me, looks at least ten, so they called him Zimzelen (evergreen) at first, then shortened it to just green (the noun).

Wife's a doctor, I think she worked her first years as a factory doctor somewhere in kombinat, dad remembers seeing her in the mess hall for lunch, and eventually I saw her at zzzzz when I went to extend my licence (v. 12-VIII-2020.).
