Me on sezam

Mme Samanta Foks(1) expressed deep gratitude to citizens of my city for leaving their gas in favor of Belgraders.

Either tip that cattle down already, or don't be surprised if you get wry looks from us here. This is already I dunno which time that something vanishes here first so that the illusion that there's allegedly no shortage could be maintained a few weeks longer in Belgrade.

To make it even darker, the surrounding municipalities not only weren't running out of heating gas, but didn't even have electricity restricted, while we first had [a blackout] from 6 to 14 plus whole weekends, and then 7 to 10:30 + weekends until 14:00 and now on friday until 11 and that's all. Over the weekend we didn't have any gas at all.

The story's already circulating here that it is know exactly which three vaseliners should hang on posts. One of them is the director of the local gas distribution, and I heard that he was desperate by monday already - I know the guy and I think he can be trusted. The main valve is in Novi or rather Belgrade.

So far our politicians, to advance, took as dowry the refineries and other larger investments (wish I knew who burdened us with that choucary and took the refinery to Novi), and now we fell so low that they can take only our frozen asses (that's the way to do it)(2). There's always someone climbing up over our backs.

-->Ideal SPS voter is a penguin: likes the cold, stands in line and claps.

-----

(1) Slobodanka Gruden, the mayor of Belgrade. "Grudi" - "tits", hence the nickname.

(2) the election slogan of SPS, quite short in serbian, "tako treba" - except I spelled it with "tveba", Šešelj style, as the guy has the speech impediment, can't pronounce the proper r.

The epilogue, three days later: the salt for the roads also went to Belgrade.

Also this:

We have a pharmacist in the neighborhood. In the last week he was open for a day and a half. The one day was when the state approved the price increase (800% instead of 2804% as SPAS* asked for; the next day by 11:30 he ran out of things to sell, end.

Today he was completely empty.

* SPAS (serbian: salvation), Savez privatnih apotekara Srbije - Union of private pharmacists of Serbia

That pharmacist is the guy who was the rota commander during those first exercises of the reserve, namely 07-XI-1984.. His pharmacy was with DBA in the underground; there was just one shop between us. There some guy was selling finer pottery and porcelain vessels. The last in the line was a wholesale company, owned by one of the twin brothers who were frequently mentioned 1969-1971, not exactly from ruža but from the nearby workers' colony (aka lower colony)
