The Victory day parade in Belgrade*. I know I was there with dad, somewhere on the boulevard, the weather was variably cloudy, so I wore my still quite new šuškavac. We held the curb and just watched the endless procession of vojska, vojska, more vojska. Eventually, a double column of tanks came by. I noticed they didn't have any kind of chimney for exhaust - the greasy diesel smoke was sort of thin and coming out of a rectangular hole, perhaps half a pedalj with one and a half, somewhere above the right track. The smoke wasn't too thick, really, but I noticed it contained some droplets. Presumably the engine's compression rings weren't perfect, so some oil droplets came out.
When we got home, we noticed that my šuškavac was all spotty from oil stains. That was the end of it - whatever would dissolve the oil would dissolve the fabric itself. Never had anoher one, and never was to a parade again. Not that I missed it much.
There was also some dispute whether we should celebrate the 9th or 15th, as the war in Yugoslavia lasted six days longer, the last of ustaše, četniks and white guard were surrounded and not giving up. Didn't feel like surrendering.
Of news, I remember that Leonov left the capsule and was outside for whole twelve minutes. Five days later Amers also had a crew in orbit. The first Intelsat was also launched, and soon we'll see the first satellite transmissions. Once we get a television set. The Avala tower was finished this month. Clay-Liston, Clay won again.

* I remember there was some dispute whether we should really celebrate 9th or 15th, because in Yugoslavia the axis forces and their collaborants didn't surrender until six days later.
