Nina returned yesterday, everything okay. In Amsterdam they questioned her at length about everything and anything - that's the current american tricks against terrorism, as it were, and Bush's latest is to check thoroughly anything suspect coming here, before it comes. Specially emphasizing the bombs, if anyone tries to send one, to explode in Europe and not here.

Other than that nuisance, the trip was nothing special, at the customs they asked only whether she brought any food - fruit, vegetables. She said chocolate, and about the cacti she said nothing, as they're not food, not fruit, not vegetables. She passed coolly. The airplane landed thirty minutes ahead of schedule, but they didn't exit until some Indian woman, from her row of seats, was taken out on a stretcher, as she had some health problems, heart she heard, which ate those thirty minutes.

Outside it was solid heat, 33°, luckily there's always some breeze at the airport's parking [lot]. Told us of her impressions as we rode home... like how the roads here are boring, no potholes. Somewehere in the forelast county we found a Subway's sandwichary, as the deal was that we'll have sandwiches to serve as both lunch and dinner. The sandwiches are huge, the bun is 30cm long, and they fill it with loads of stuff and claim it's dietal.

When we got home, she opened her bags just enough to hand out what was sent to each (thanks from us all, specially from Lena on the table spread). Then we watched the pics while Nina sat at the zmajček to get back to this speed. I leafed through the books sent by Škrba (the new edition of the Yu Rock encyclopaedia) and Boća (history of Belgrade rockenroll by Aleksandar Žikić, whose night show runs on Studio Be for some twenty years now, with author's autograph!), and eventually I had to shoo her away from the keyboard as I had some work to do.

Burt reports that Zyanna cancelled her gig, a laryngitis fucke up her voice. Will do in september. At work, I should have run the version 12 on the test server, but I couldn't because someone held up the session. Did eventually around one after midnight. Berix found out that it was Jerbie sitting on the server because his laptop croaked.

Dad writes that he's been to a barber shop and had a haircut by Beštara's wife. He's about to file for a divorce, found a new one. Eh... he's always been a fuckwind, this is his third wife. While he was in his trade (higher medical, physiotherapy), he worked in all better spas, from Vrdnik, Kanjiža, Rusanda to Aleksinac. He got married and divorced twice along the way. Then went into business, trying various things - produced eggs (was the real eggman for a while :), then held a couple of textile retail shops, even pleating cloth for skirts, while the shop was by the community centre; then moved halfway to downtown, then turned that into a tavern, then went to Germany for a while, then switched to what he's doing onw - manufacturing plastic tote bags and toilet paper.

Dad asked about the euros he sent, how did that go... I think we'll keep them on the side until further. Went to Richmond today, Nina and I alone. That's because the first day is a tour for foreign students, eight until two, so we had to start quite early. I left her there, then went to Go, chatted with her for quite a while (okay, took a nap as well), then went to pick Nina counting on her unfamiliarity with the address. Go did send her the details, but that email stayed on dad's computer, and this wasn't far anyway - this is all the same community area, not any part of the university that's farther than 5-6 blocks away.

We already bought a dining table and chair for our students, all metal yet upholstered. Even the tabletop is somewhat softer, and the legs fold into it (each fits into the near edge, and the legs are strong, inch thick pipes. We looked the pictures, comented and then I brought the car from the garage to take out that table and chairs. Last night we, at Lena's insistence, we finally bought a blender, which is basically the same old juice mixer, just like that czech mixer had, just bigger and cheaper - 13$. Lena adores a milkshake. And lo and behold, Go and Ricardo bought an identical one :). Of course, we'll move Nina's computer, desk, chair and bed and probably the bookcase.
