Email from Ford: "Any word on migration to the .NET platform instead of just recompile in VFP7?" - this about my attempts to check out the web apps done in VFP in WWWC framework. He doesn't know what he's talking about. And VFP7 isn't out yet, or at least I haven't seen it.

My response: "UA was using XWorks to run on, but they also switched to WW few months ago, and they're damn fast - the messages come up right away, even when I'm on a 56K modem. I've also visited egghead.com (which is powered by WW) and it's also very slick; they have a huge amount of hits but I didn't notice any stalls."

Our Clara at Zero is a bit too bony and nervous for my taste, very unsure of her position. She emailed Željko about the status of some (three digit coded) bugs... ahem, tasks (none of that stuff was in use yet, so they couldn't be called bugs). Brlja responds "I want to add that we will send everithing to Gradivoj first, so he can put it on test bed and test it. "... just goes somewhere to show how useful was the money the USquad got to pay Sofija for those english lessons. The stuff they're working on is the itinerary, i.e. the whole logistic of the campus tour when a group of prospective learning doctors is taken on one. Who takes them from point A to point B, at what times, which transportation, what happens when they get there, who takes over, what props are needed etc etc. The whole shebang.

On 2nd dad wrote that some guy came by, whom he remembers as a beginner, and is actually the father of Nina's friend Vera, so greetings sent. Đuđa had vacuum cleaner trouble, the bag was torn, so she wrapped a nylon bag around it. Don't know what did it do with the airflow, perhaps the motor survived. Just the same, she had dust finely dispersed throughout the room.

On 4th I wrote „I kept trying, as far as I could, to calm down the passions and make whichever feasible modus vivendi for the coming months, but didn't have a anyone to do it with. To Greg I suggested to buy off a part of Avai, or invest in it, so to have a legal base to cooperate etc etc, but it turned out that he's reluctant to do so, as his investors would consider it legally risky, potentially complicated, hence costly. To Brlja I suggested to bite the bullet and find a way to coexist with Vanji, which he kind of accepted but then kept finding ways to think of other variants. To Vanji I first looked through the fingers* for that one message where I appeared as a domestic mercenary and a foreign traitor or something of the kind, and offere to try to punch out 20% for Avai of whatever money the guys make here, but he countered that it should be 20% of everything, including travel cost and expenses. There, a patriarch himself couldnt reconcile this, so I gave up.“

On 6th heard that the new government at home finally revoked the exit tax, which was charged for full five-six years.

Dad wanted to know prices of drinks here. Well, beer in a bar is 4$ (small, there's no large), in a shop a good import can be found for 10-12$ a dozen. And in a bar they expect a 10-15% tip.

Dad wanted to know how was the black friday... well, „the crowd gathered the night before. Never had to park so far away from the entrance. Last night we treated Lena with a white jacket. Nina wanted some rain shoes, didn't find any.“

On 11th I posted the whole story of auntie Ema (v. Fefi) on UA.

Around this time there was a nice scene in Kroger, at the cash register. First the cashier caught my eye, being an example of a perfect black beauty, to spread on bread, but then Lena caught her eye, and she just pointed at her and said „she's gonna be a heartbreaker! Look at those eyes!“. Well, blue-eyed as they come...
