(Place, tavern, firm, USA)

A nice software company before it started looking for investors and was blown up into a dot com. Then at crucial times, few con artists were listened to. One of them was working for Microsoft. The company tanked.

Its main product was Hossy, app for teaching hospitals, i.e. those where medical students earned their degrees. It had enrollment module (a complicated thing where the candidate students visit their candidate hospital, and then they both evaluate each other and then EONS compares all the data and decides, based on calculated best match, who enrolls where). That was seasonal, usually creating some level of panic each september. There was also an evaluations module, where they'd all evaluate each other (students and teaching staff). The working versions were written in VFP5, except the scheduler, which was written by Pete in Pascal. The not working version was in VB6/ASP, which was communicating with the database via a COM object... which got way too verbose (one method to set the name of a person, another to get it, ditto for surname, DoB, place of birth etc etc) and slow.

We weren't paid for the last five weeks of work.

They got us into the US, paid for the trip, visas and the first down payment to the lessor when we were buying the car.

I bought my first computer (the zmajček) in the US through them - a 400MHz Celeron with 128M, a 14G disk and an 19" monitor. The monitor lasted nine years, then lost blue color. Was still usable, just looked bad. At the moment (may 2009), it waits to be taken to one of those charities who take junk so inmates have junk on which to learn how to fix them. Go's first machine was also purchased through them, and was never paid, because Greg's wife never paid in full for what Go and Nina worked in her restaurant. (... 35 words...)

Third computer, for Nina came from Ebay, as a kit.

Famous quote:

me: "What do we do with this, doesn't work here, doesn't work at Leevor, never worked"

Larry and Felix: "Ship it!"
