Time is tight. The attempts to find a midwife who'd dare to deliver twins have failed. There are some legal restrictions, perhaps a certificate of sorts, and lacking that, Nina's regular midwives just didn't dare do it, she got most of her money back. Going to a hospital costs from 100.000$ upwards, with unknown amount of paperwork to cover and who knows what sorts of waivers to sign, specially to waive the right to sue them if they screw up. In case of any complications (like it being a friday afternoon) they'd do a caesarean without much ado, and the cost could rise to 160.000$.

She says she could deliver them herself, she'd just need someone medical to take a look and see whether she needs a suture. But no, this is USA, and everyone's topmost priority is CYA - fear of litigation freezes them to the marrow.

So fly to Phillippines it is. More CYA - told them to get tickets ASAP because there are probably some limitations. She found Turkish airlines - at least not flying over the whole continent and the Pacific, but over Istambul. With a 9 hour layover there, but hey in case of emergency landing they'd have a place to land. And no landing in Japan, where kids always get sick.

The Turks, on their hand, require some paperwork, but this can be handled (opinion from a doctor - which they can do, their dr Grey, even though just a bone setter, aka chiropracter, is still legally a doctor, so he'll come and bring a paper). And there's a limitation of no pregnants flying after 32nd week - and this is her 31st.

The winter storm hitting east coast is not helping, but it's not that much, it's just vast, stretching all the way down to Florida. It's already thawing, and in places where the snow was plowed, the blacktop is already clear.

Fingers crossed, on which I have to remind myself that we do thumbs held instead, we're not in the US, not for a long stretch of time.

So they're all flying this sunday - Lena and Milan are returning from Sri Lanka, and Nina and her gang are flying east.
