26-IX-2010.

Žarko is getting married. They already live together (the bride has the same nickname as Nina, rare as it is) and have one daughter, they just want to make it official now that they can.

Of course, we picked Tika to drive us. He delivered us at the first crossing at the railroad, and then Aleksandar was there... with his cab. He's also a cabbie. Made a bunch of photos (Lena's little Fujica, pocket sized), we qot to know the rest of the family (wife, daughter, bride, kum, the little girl). Been to the church (which I did just once more and then gave up - I'm not entering those anymore), then to city hall (brief rain while entering, mostly cleared up afterwards) and then to the party. The music was awful. Don't mind too loud, but they played everything the same turbo folk (v. narodnjaci) way, even some things from Bajaga (!). Lena said "I wish I didn't know what they played". She got quite shorthanded about the food, them confusing vegetarian with orthodox fast (she gets that a lot) which meant fish and something with lots of onions.

At least the girls were beautiful and they danced graciously - which is no wonder, that's the folklore dancing team the bride is a member of. They danced often, in front of the church, the city hall, and then during dinner. That folklore... is probably the reason, and why they looked so well, can't decide which one was the prettiest. If not qute in dopičnjaks, not far from it either.

Don't remember how much we drank, but it doesn't matter - didn't plan to get drunk and we didn't, just kept good moods on. Spoke a few times with one old guy, whom I should know (or would have, had we not spent about 25 years not visiting and not being visited - such were the times), and whom I recognized a couple of years later on those old photos from 1961 or so.

Aleksandar's mother was extremely pissed off at their cousin's latest wife, who is the regular good looking gold digger, sponzoruša in today's parlance, perhaps picking this way to retire. The guy is built like a boxer and she's a frail 50kg-with-bed sparrow of the blonde-by-conviction kind. Last I heard, they didn't last more than a few years - for whichever reason (i.e. community pressure and gossip, or something between them)(heard wrong - saw them together ten years later).

We wanted to get another cab to go home, but Aleksandar insisted that we stay overnight... which we gracefully declined, so he called us a cab - a colleague of his, on the house. To kind of repay what we did for Žarko three years ago, I guess.
