Went to the local police HQ to get fingerprinted, photographed etc for the new ID and biometric passports. We already have passports, but these are FRY passports, not Serbia's, and are valid until the end of year only. With the new passports, we'll have almost the liberty of movement like we had with the old SFRY passports (when we needed visas for only 12 countries, including USA and East Germany). Most important, we can travel within the Schengen countries without a visa, since beginning of this year.

So, just like we did in 1999, we'll open an account in Hungary, and I'll start getting my "salary" via that.

The girls at the police were nice and friendly, not the illiterate cops who'd treat you as a suspect (well, me mostly, because of my then long hair and beard). We'll get these passports in a week or so.

Then we (three) went downtown, and it took me two and a half hours at Frieza (Intesa) bank to get my last traveller's cheques cashed - at least we got our money out. So long, banks, I never loved you.

Met Džole and Duda (whom I met in 1970 in Ohrid), and they all stayed out while I was waiting inside. They were interested in getting their son to meet Lena... but he graduated theology, which is highly incompatible with us :). They also fell for the story that I'm "writing some programs from time to time", i.e. no job, no salary... and said "then you too don't have it easy". Nobody tells me nothin', but it seems the story has spread that we failed over there :).
