24-VI-2013.

On 21st, Go and Stanley took Neša to Belgrade, to visit Lena. Lena has moved, somewhere in the lower part of Dimitrija Tucovića, with some chick from the graphics, who needed a mate for the 2nd room, the guy who rent it didn't like to have a vacant room. This chick, whom we've never seen, was a special case - a forever student of random arts, now this now that, already in thirties, even studied in Israel for a while. She seems to keep finding things that Lena should help her with or just do them for her. The room isn't bad, and it's not facing the busy street, but rather the quiet little park behind.

The building itself is crummy old novogradnja, a few decades behind on maintenance.

The beer friday being skipped, we decided to do it on saturday. Neša in stroller, eos40 in hand, took the long walk to downtown. Good, or else I'd miss this shot of colorful šinobus under the overpass.

We sat in „Danguba“ (literally, „day-lose“, i.e. waste of time), actually in front of it. The cafe is upstairs, above the book store, but just like all other such watering holes on main street, it has a dozen tables outside. The beer was the Budvar, which is just the hungarian name for Češke Buđejovice aka Budweiss. The advertising has it as Badvajzer, but it should read as Budvajser, because this is the original, not the american pale imitation. And this time I had an Amer who'd take in the story of the longest court process in history (about who has the rights to the name, the Czechs or the Amers), and who'd understand the difference.

The weather was quite muggy, the beer just slided. Pretty women walking through the town, bunch of youth... not quite the korzo, but almost there. It's just that those in the stationary columns aren't standing now, they're sitting and enjoying their drinks. Neša had quite a good time, kept grabbing Go's beer, but she maneuvered it skillfully, so none was spilled and he didn't get to wash his hands in it. Around 22:30 we finally got up and walked... well, not straight home, we were all in the mood for some pljeska, so we went to the magistrala, there's a brzožder where we often get one while en route to the garden. Around 23:00, just when our orders were ready and Neša had a few morsels (he does love barbecue), a torrential rain fell. Incredible, real cloudburst. This is a block away from the lowpoint (v. 03-VIII-2005.), but regardless it managed to fill quite a lake.

We just moved a bit away from the edges of the awning, and slowly finished our food. The only trouble was that you had to keep it in your hands all the time, because wherever you lay it, may be wet. If not directly from the rain, then from splatter.

When we were about done eating, the rain abated but didn't quite stop. Going home on foot after a rain is a problem, as there are a couple of sections where the sidewalk is a mess and you can't quite see where you lower your foot. So we called a cab. It came in five minutes and... guess who - Tika again. He must have some sense to know when it's us calling.

Today, yet another day of fighting m$. This time it was my motherboard, fried during the storm two nights ago (should have remembered to unplug everything, but the beer was so good, imported czech). Rile got it all replaced within a few hours. Now I'm reinstalling everything. Each year the same dance. Makes me want to retire and forget the whole mess, and finally live in Linux.

She went to see oma, as it's a monday. (... 30 words...) She still hasn't paid for my cell refill, so I can't call the bloody Telekom to say I'm without internet for more than 30 h now. Nina sent a message to say, first, that her hens have laid the second egg now, and then to ask if we're still incommunicado.

Cigarettes are made by whoever has the time, we are four smokers, that's about 80 a day. Since we have the man for procurement, it became easy. The price is okay, we don't have to go to the market (and watch for žardinjerija)

Neša seems to have caught a bit of a flu from Lena, who's now back in Belgrade, having an exam tomorrow. Stanley is flying back home in two days.

We have some water in the basement. That night we got about 50 l/m2, no wonder some leaked in somehow. (Later we found out it flows in from the garage entrance, we managed to get some slope when pouring concrete.)

Now to deal with the rest of the mess. SQL server, Toad, LibreOffice, runtimes for Feds... and hope to have internet by tomorrow, and the zmajček would run on all thirteen cylinders.

I guess I got it by then, because there's a „lajtrum raspak 44“ - unpacked LightRoom 4.4 I guess - with the 2013-06-25 20:52, so I'd say that's when I got it. To process the .cr2 (canon raw two) photos more smoothly.
