26-X-1988.

Silvija was born to Arpi and Višnja. Of which I remember nothing - how we heard the news (perhaps Oma called), when did we first visit to see the baby, where they lived at the time. Zilch.

Around this time I let on to Radoja that the elaborate* about forming a new informatic firm is taking momentum, with due date largely unknown, but next summer tops it should start working, so he also started taking steps to be ready for my departure. He suddenly recalled that he lost two people since my arrival, so he's one programmer short, there's room, so he had a job posted.

So soon we had a new colleague, accidentally from his village, and with the same surname on top of that. Though the village is not a five surnames place, it even had half of its population replaced with colonized Bosnians when the Germans were run out of their part of it, this surname is probably among the first five, they are prominent. And she may even be related to him, something like ninth aunt's niece, didn't matter - she too graduated mathematics (so we're a team of five mathematicians again). This Milana was really an anti-Sosa, tall yet nimble, spoke fluently and clear, had the wits, and altogether I think she was taken in despite the pedigree, not thanks to it. She fit in really fast and the work just flowed. I was still working on the elaborate, the economist from the bank would come to bring his chapters, which I'd retype and insert where it was supposed to be.

We had a request to print something in special format, which could be set but not programmatically, the page size was not standard. Our line printers had their paper tape readers. The commands were entered by punching holes in the tape. Something like a player piano or knitting machine. Radoja gave me the tape, puncher, and a booklet with the command set. I toiled on it for some two or three hours, but eventually did it. Incredible, to live to write code in this manner. A driller.
