My 2nd day at Firriver. Trying out the code, finding my way through all the metadata and framework. Chatting with James reveals some interesting bits:

17:47:59 Me: looking at the code... have they ever heard of the word "robust"?

17:49:26 James: umm, he seems to believe it's robust.

17:49:57 Me: In the notes form, there's a few Locates without a single if found().

17:50:54 Me: well, it will be interesting, to say the least :).

17:51:37 James: Lots of that in the code. But, in fairness here, I do believe that the record is previously proven to be there by preceeding code. Wouldn't say for every case. But in 99.9% of my own code I do code a FOUND().

17:53:41 Me: also, the amount of .parent.parent.parent references is close to disturbing. a view handler calling form's methods... I thought I was prone to inserting dirty tricks in the code, but now I think I'm too kosher.

17:55:42 James: If there's a trick to be used, Jan will find a use for it. He is exactly opposite to me - I never EVER use tricks. If it can't work as 'normal' then I don't do it or find some other technique. To me tricks leave one too exposed to product update problems.

Later, with part of the team:

21:04:43 Jan: Jost got back from my treatment. Everything seems to be fine for now. Radiation went fine... Now cross your finger for the next three months. If no complication occurs within that periode they are not likely to come

(... 40 words...)

I put this photo here only beacuse this is the day (symmetrical to the one in november) when the setting sun passes through the kitchen all the way to the front window curtain, through all 12m of the house.
