The little Acer Aspire 1 laptop that Lena got in 2008, used, on Craig's. Some time next year Nina got one too, about the same price (240$). Don't know whether Lena invented the name, or it came from the previous owner. At some point around 2012 or later I gave up on reading books from a PSP (tried from Sansa first, screen too small), and since she just couldn't pull out any more juice out of the tired old XP on it, gave it to me. I suffered the indignity for a few years - yes, XP took a whole minute to restore from hybernation, and the battery didn't last much, but then I'd use it only as a reader - on the toilet seat or on the couch. When it ran out of juice, I'd just plug it in and within a couple of hours I'd get another couple of hours of off-cable time.

Then I installed Linux Mint on it and guess what, it restored from sleep in just four seconds. The battery lasted much longer and it worked just about twice as fast.

Then the battery recharge would hold for just an hour, then half. When it came down to 15 minutes it became unusable and I ordered a triple battery (cost about 40€) which lasted and lasted; initially the charge would hold for eight hours.

By october 2018 its charger died. But I got cimet a few weeks later.
