The woes of electronic publishing. You get as much aggregate attention from the hundred times fewer visitors or readers in real world. Both ways, I'm happy that it reached the few who care.
I didn't take any shots, nor found any emails on the subject (neither on oldwave nor rasejani), so I have no clue when was it - Stinge and the girl (same one as few weeks ago) dropped by, while cruising the flatlands here. Pretty much the same type of cruise that the guy from ppp and his chick did two years ago when they came to see me. This flatland cruising seems to be a special kind of tourism. Though in Stinge's case, it could be that he was also visiting his kin in a nearby village.
Nothing special, sat, had a coffee, drove on.

Around this time some girl came with a stevka in hand, we saw she's going house to house. Somehow it happened we were both in the front yard, which is a rare occurrence. The kid is making a list of those who should pay real estate tax... which turned out to be voluntary (or we'd already have got the bill with virman), but they don't say so. The whole thing smelled suspect, the USAID was mentioned, and I knew I already heard that there's a program in four cities whereby they are assisting the local administrations in ways to improve their performance. Aha... so helping them to squeeze more tax. And of course, whenever they say „program in four cities“ I know Zrenjanin must be one of them, happens every time.
So we crossexamined the kid with a few subquestions, though it was clear that she's got no idea of the reach and fundamentals of the job, she got this gig via Students' (which, look at it, still goes strong), but at least to get the story they briefed them with and had them learn by rote. She kept filling the form on her feet so that we couldn't see what she was writing, just like the census gal last year, didn't even ask to get in or sit anywhere, so we talked over the gate. Well, her form to fill was two pages long and around the fifth of her questions we got to a sticking point, the question was intrusive and an obvious attempt to harvest some demographic data which could be sold later for marketing. So I asked her where did she get the idea to have us on the list. Well, they got the list of addresses with power meters, from Elektrovojvodina. Well great, this city has a cadaster for a hundred years, maybe two, and the state isn't able to get the data from itself, the data which are neatly listed in there, but rather goes to the wiremen? Well, skip this question. I can't, said she, it's either fill it completely or write „refuses to coooperate“. Well the later then, and good luck down the street.
Well fuckya, we paid so many fees for various permits, confirmations, registrations and whatnot, and they send pollsters to see whether we exist. Where did you register all those payments, scratched them in a chimney? As the guy said „don't pay them nothing, they have no clue, no data“.
