majstor Mile

Our private mason. He first turned our attic into rooms (a whole floor, actually) in 2013, and then worked all summer of 2016 in Čankovo to fix a leak in the roof, then the places where the plaster fell off, then the weak wall of the rear shed... to the tune that the fixing cost as much as the whole house and the lot did, but then that's still small amout compared to what we get out of it.

He's a bit of a pedant, which is good in a mason. Doesn't leave the place dirty, doesn't do any noticeable damage, pays attention to details and does the extra effort to make the things he did look nice. Which is why we hired him again. And then again in 2018. to build a frame for our brandy still, because its housing (made out of a larger barrel) was rusty all through and we couldn't trust it to hold the 50-60kg of mush at higher temperatures. Which he did swimmingly.

He's from somewhere in the south of Serbia, and when there was no work he got here. Only recently he brought his wife too. They also have twin granddaughters, about same year as ours.

Didn't build the house for himself, rents a little apartment where the janitor of the sports center was, but did build one for his son.
