On 2nd went for something to Toza's shop - don't remember what it was, but I did have an hour to walk around until it got done. Met Carp at the shop where he worked, it's less than two blocks away. Also met one girl, well retired now, who used to be the chief IT (aka „erc šef“) person at a big customer of ours in 1991 or so, still looking good, just a bit rounder in the face. Had a selfie with both of them, carrying Lena's little Fujica around, while Lena has the big one and I have the eos40.
On third went with Raja to theatre again, a different show and we watched from the upper gallery this time, less crowd around us and he took it better, we sat through the whole thing. There were still some heaps of swept snow in the corners, but the weather was sunny and nice. She started preparing the saplings for the spring planting, making small paper pots, one per plant, which should just fall apart when the plant grows. The nice thing is that this technique skips the critical moment of replanting, the sapling carries its soil with it, noting falls off.
On fourth we had another bigger lunch, with dad and Lena at the table. After lunch, Nina went to enter the whole complicated genealogy into an app which should keep it all in one place. Today's task was to extract as much info from dad as he could squeeze from his memory. From mom she already extracted as much as she knew about the (... 34 words...). For my maternal side the situation is also lopsided - on my grandfather's side we know only his parents and a sister-by-aunt, nothing before that and nothing on the side, as there was some serious rift few years before my grandfather's death, we know of his parents, sister-by-aunt, beyond that one whistles (v. house dictionary). Dad actually supplied more info on granma's side, the whole branch from Vršac area. And then there's the whole philippino side, which is just rich (in data; wealthy as well on maternal side and poor on paternal).
On fifth we made a grand tour. First we dropped Nina and Raja on 25. maj, where she went to meet Zana. When she called as in „I'm done, let's go“, we arrived again and met at the corner, made a few shots with them together, then went to Bagljaš to see Oma in that under-the-counter nursing home. More shots there. Then to Arpi, where we also met Silvija and Dragan and Višnja and Boba.
The deep freeze we had the last few nights of february, when it went to -26°, has striped huge swaths of paint off many iron gates. This is what theirs looked like. Not that ours in Klincaid is any better, this just looks more interesting.
On sixth Nina packed and we all went to take a nap at Lena's place. Had a stroll around, the Tašmajdan park being not that far and the weather being just moderately cold. At some point we noticed we were running out of cigarettes and a few other things, so I took a stroll to the nearest kiosk. They made shots of me returning, which is rare. I'm mostly absent from pictures.
For dinner, we went to _pahuljica. Nice, warm, cozy and good food, plus the ease of parking and not that far either. And I discovered that they had a literal lookup table. They even had a choice of herbivore food - Lena got pohovano mushrooms, quite good. I think I had little sarma in vine leaves, which was quite good and unexpected, I ordered it on a whim, firmly counting that no sane chef would bother with that, but they had it. Perfect. Raja was intent on learning to walk, so we took shifts in leading him around, and taking care that he doesn't get too close to the blasting furnace.
We made some sort of sleeping arrangment, tighter than few weeks ago, now that there were one adult and a kid more than last time. Amazingly, we managed to catch some sleep despite that, and we appeared at the airport before 6. So they flew home and we were back at Lena's before 7, to grab a coffee and go back to work.
After work, I started working on dad's machine. He's getting my old motherboard.
