Jack Baran sr

(Person, USA)

A general practice player - mostly as an attorney, even though he never studied law nor passed the bar exam. It's actually possible in the US; anyone can assign anyone to represent them. So we got this guy to handle our case, and cases of the USquad, at the INS (as it was called then), and he made some good money on it.

I got to know him through his son Jack, who was a prominent face on the UA. We were under the impression he was trying to help us, which he did to an extent (got us to the US, and then got me three more H-1B visas, or rather three extensions of the same visa), and then when the last one was to be extended into a green card, died and our paperwork was just lost.

It was on his recommendation that we decided to stay with Zero in spring of 2001 (the process did go its pace, and we almost got it), when we could have jumped ship on time. Who knows why that's [actually] good (aka "a good thing").
