The main place for fox on the web. I found it in april 1997 and stayed. All the work in the US I found, I found through it, or through people who know me from there.
There are three kinds of users there - guests, regulars and priority (aka paying). The guests can only read; the paying can also search. With 1,6 million messages there, search is worth paying - the subscription is somewhere between 100 and 200CA$. Yup, it's hosted in Canada, and the owner/writer of the site, Alphonse, is a Quebecois. His french is sometimes obvious in the internal naming conventions of the site, and over the many years, I did have a few times when I met the internals.
Being strictly long time members, we felt comfortable leaving our real names and even avatar photos. Because it was in the beginning, before the web turned nasty. It even predates the dot com boom.
