The weather was nice, considering the date. They led us out of school to the beginning of my street, and lined us up on the curb. Don't know where the flowers came from, but we had them, so when Tito's car, the long six-door mercedes passed by, we threw them in front of it, though some surely ended on the body or roof. I made perhaps two shots there, with the line of the houses on the even-numbered side of the street already missing, they tore them down and started building 25. maj.

Then we walked downtown. Most of the walk I was with some girls from seventh grade (Đica and two others), also a couple of shots. One shot was somewhat staged, I told a guy to call her, she turned and I clicked. I liked the shot, even taped it into my diary, but she was immediately angry with me for taking her by surprise. Still, we went together all the way to town (i.e. the remaining four blocks).

The car by vodotoranj is a police tristać. Most of these cars were state or enterprise owned, as they were a tad expensive for a regular worker. The few I know had them then were mostly directors - like one of my uncles in Vršac.

Downtown we (different we now) gathered in front of Borovo shoe shop.

The rest of the pictures are of the crowd on the square, and my attempts to take a shot of Tito leaving the hotel. Don't know if the results would count as a success, perhaps they would - I managed to wrestle my way to the best position, did get the guy in front of the lens. The lens should have been 200mm to get something useful, but the regula didn't have changeable lenses, the 50mm is all you have.

The accordeon orchestra got together again, and should have been on teevee, but the chance passed by and went to nothing. Should have played on 9th.
