Nina and I took Raja to the theatre, a matinee puppet show for kids. Nice sunny day, snow melting everywhere. Met Zorica in the foyer, also with a grandchild. The puppeteers were in plain sight, holding their puppets in front of themselves, but were draped in something burlap like, dyed brown gray, so they were nearly invisible, and the kids didn't mind at all. Changed Raja's diapers right after the show. There's a bookstore in the foyer, so Nina bought a couple of picture books. In cyrillic but obviously a translation. Ah, the times. We used to have excellent domestic books for kids, but now it's easier to just pay some pittance to the translator than a proper author's fee, and have someone as magnificent as Petričić once was, or Džumhur, for an illustrator.

Went to Prleski for coffee and a cake afterwards. I had a proper baklava. The lake under the little bridge was still frozen.

On 27th went to Čankovo to check on everything. There was still a few fingers of snow on almost everything, but it's already quite patchy. Our rows and ditches are holding fine. I thought they'd crumble and flatten after a few good frosts, but no, the roots are holding them together. Outside, the locals were piling up big stacks of cornstalks and setting them to fire. That's what Romanians do on this time of year, shoo the winter away.

Lots of work on upFeds, partly to reflect the latest versions of SQL server - presently the 2008 version made inroads among our customers, or was there a 2010 too? Internal versions may be 9, 10, 11, who knows. Version naming was always seasonal with m$, their versioning logic always ceded priority to sales, they never stuck to one scheme long enough, it's sheer madness, just follow any of their longer terms products - the word was 1.1, 1.2, 2.0, 6.0, 2000 etc; fox (under m$) was 2.5, 2.6, 3.0, 5.0 until 9.

Presently, in the part where I'm taking a snapshot of current database's structure to store in my portable metadata,

[2012/02/23 16:27:48] sGradlj - must keep this for new fields (idiot TSQL)

[2012/02/27 18:44:42] sGradlj - don't spread this, foreign keys cause trouble. [Jan told me to remove that, because the foreign key definition contained the database name, and this was supposed to carry structure from one db to another, so any reference to anything not within the database would make it bug later]

Also, lots of work for Belrap.

On 28th I see I have a new motherboard for zmajček, a Gigabyte something... Why do thesethings look so pretty in the parts you never see, except when they are new and when they let out the white smoke, and hide them in ugly gray or krmkasti (v. house dictionary) boxes?
