Went to get groceries, in žabaljski ITO (which I kept reading as ITC, because the O was three-quartered, fuck your designer for being too graphic), which is a largish supermarket in that half-street which used to face the once bager. Lena's little Fujica being pocket sized, I often carry it with me and keep shooting around.
So I shot milk in bags, which I saw nowhere but here and in Hungary, a vitrine with dry meat stuff (just keep track of the rich offer here, when compared with that in Americah) and this shelf with juices. Later I composed this and two neighboring shots into one, just to put all the names together. And ten days later this turned into a blog article.
Juices, engrbian
First off, I don't consider sugar water to be a juice. Whenever one refers to soda as juice, I ask from which fruit was it made. But it gets worse - last time I was offered a juice, it turned out to be iced tea. Sugared (or worse, aspartamed).
Yugoslavia used to be a proud producer of excellent fruit juices. Serbia was among the top regions in that. But...
Looking at the shelf in the supermarket, here's what I see. One called "Life 100%". One "nectar family" (with name of the fruit in serbian). One called "Jodi" - whatever that means, it's not a fruit. One called "Kids 100%". One whole shelf called "next". One called "Hello!". And three types of iced tea, one from Lipton, one called "Ice tea", one called "Black".
A total of three words (in large font) in the local language. Not wanting to be taken for a stupid tourist who buys only what he understands, I bought none.
However, there was a tasting stand, and they offered some juices. Even without glasses I could see that none of the text on the label is in english. I'll buy that when they start selling.
One Michel Chauss (Mišel/Majkl Čaus/Čos/Šos/Haus) from SFBC checks whether it was us who installed escouelle server on the xxxxWAP801 machine. Nope, we don't know who did that, if they didn't do it themselves, could be a third party, Firriver for sure did not. In other news, a heap of user emails, handled mostly by Suez and Das, even one by Hana, who is a rare bird in that soup. Suez seems to have neglected his official skype account, so he got the last warning before suspension from m$:
You don't seem to have used any of your Skype Credit in a while. It becomes inactive if you haven't used it in 180 days. But don't worry - once it becomes inactive, you can reactivate it whenever you're ready to use it. Simply sign into your account online and follow the option to Reactivate credit.
Eh, to have it it's not enough to pay anymore, you also have to pet it from time to time. It requires your time and attention, one of those with special needs. This taking of your money hostage seems to be the new practice (which I'll later see as normal with mobile phone operators). Probably an accounting trick to, while suspended, the money is moved to the firm's main account where it's considered an asset, thus increasing their total value. These bums at least promise to return it if you decide to remember to start consuming it; the latter guys considered it all normal to never return it.
On the other side, oldwave is hunting the old recordings of Indeksi.
I exchanged a few emails with Magi, something about attempts to connect through skype. This one time she also mentioned Eržika's current husband. Later, the story will unravel - I almost met the guy before, his son was in that electro class where I was classmaster, in 1981 in mašinska. The kid never showed up, but I memorized the surname, being very rare and interesting.
