(Ender messing with the Acura; his new old motorbike is tied with a steel rope to that wooden pole, into which we screwed a hook, no chance for anyone to take it off without some serious cutting gear)
On thirteenth we toured the town looking for a car for me, Nina, Ender and I (him driving, me shooting). Did that later in the afternoon, in dealerships, to see what's available. Dealers keep longer hours, counting on there always being folks who'd drop by after work, like we now did. We found a total of one candidate, a corolla again, just half younger, but then... The paint was a warship kind of gray, and obviously done recently, for sale. Ender immediately found, knowing from experience where to look, a few places where pieces were painted over, which never get painted in the factory, and almost never get removed for a repaint, too cumbersome to take off and put back. So... it's too nicely painted and cleaned, made to look good, which raises suspicions on what could be possibly rotten or on its last legs inside.
I shot this one at the light, somewhere on the boulevard, guess near the last dealer's. It was getting dark already and the lights of the cars in the opposite direction were smearing nicely. The trouble was how to aim and keep Fujica from moving, which I solved by pressing it against the window. I did this once more later, which looked better than this, but here I found this one.
Lena passed the yoga instructor exam. There was a small celebration there, I made a few shots. She'll go on holding a few freebie lessons, along with two-three other graduates, and after that, who knows, she may get a few bucks off it. She means to go study in Richmond, same university where her sisters did, chemistry, to be a professor.
Good part of the week we kept trying to put together the instruction manual for dad's pulsator (aka pulser), and barely managed - work kept me busy all day, lots of stuff came by, and then when I was off, the light would be bad. Eventually did that alright, we composed it and sent - the pulser on 23rd, instructions two days later
George found some app, slovenian at that, which logs the times when the active app switched. That was to measure our own usage thereof, to see how much we work and how much cool off elsewhere. It held for a couple of weeks, but it was a distracion, you keep peeking into it... Whenever you measure yourself, there's no chance that you won't try to influence the result. For example, I'd open an email on the right monitor, the switch to fox on the left, and keep reading at ease. This was the week when we had this instance of fun. It didn't last, and now I can't even remember the app's name. It may be written down somewhere in skype's logs, but I don't care, don't need to know.
Dad visited both the cardiolog and anesthesiolog. The former put him on lassix, once in three days, he's got water in [his, not cardiolog's] legs. Says it makes him thirsty as if he ate oversalted pork roast. Now the other guy waits for that to run its course and then they'll see, in no less than ten days.
Found, on Craig's list, a red Matrix in Richmond. It has everything I wanted - the vintage passes, mileage exactly as expected, is in color, and it's practically a van (so when we start going to Undersville we got space to shove what we buy at lumberyard, no need to rent a truck every now and then), manual shift... just waiting to see that it's sufficiently operable, below the threshhold (yup) of a grand or two to get it up to snuff. Waiting for the guy to respond.
Tried to reshuffle the home network - half the computers can't approach the other half and yet they all got internet, which is slightly ridiculous. Doing that while Lena is away (at her wee school), as the network gear is under her bed.
The miholjsko (st Michael's, aka indian) summer eventually hit now. In the mornings, when I drive Lena to school, the fog is laying on the meadows, where they still exist. The geese from Canada are stopping by, en route further south. The leaves started falling - inland it must be already halfway down, but here near the coast, both spring and fall are delayed by few weeks.
