31-XII-1979.

The crazy doček at Mongol's place. We were preparing it for a few days now, pasting pages from newspaper comics, movie posters (his dad worked as a projector operator in a movie theatre, so there was lots of that around the house), stenciling footprints over the wall and ceiling, hanging actual fishnets in the corners etc etc. It's going to be a true masquerade. The house was condemned, so we could pull out the first brick in the morning and the host wouldn't care.

For heating we had this propane heater, perhaps two of them.

I got the baker's outfit from her father, proper white jacket, apron, cap, just pinned a "the mafia della pizza" on my back. Eči did his aunt - three pairs of trousers to gain diameter, some thick jacket to gain width, and her wig to make it complete. Dženk had just a white buttonless shirt with graffitti all over it. Brata did a Bogart, with a proper hat, raincoat, shades and a gun (shaped cigarette lighter). Živa got the vest and coat of his grandfather, plus sooted his mustache and eyebrows, so he looked like an old school Al Capone style gangster.

The snow started around noon. By the time we got there, it was nearly knee high. Živa (who drove most of the provisions, so his car was in the yard) said "I always wanted my Golf to be white" (he was already sort of drunk). A panicked (paniced?) couple tried to crash the party - actually not to crash as such, they were willing to pay, and they were welcome, but when they saw us, they got scared and left.

At some point it was discovered that we have three bowls of russian salad, three sets of knives, and no forks. I didn't let that stop me - I took two knives and used them as chopsticks. Kid complained that since I'm starting the salad from top, I should also eat the decoration - which was quartered boiled eggs and parsley leaves. I took it and ate it, to his amazement. Actually liked it, and later got into trying out other spices too. Dill...

On this last picture, Brata (left corner), unknown girl, the girl who will later be the IT manager somewhere in kombinat Mongol, Dženk, Eči.
