škodilak

(Machine, Czechoslovakia)

Some cars used to have nicknames. In this case, the Škoda (misspelled Skoda by the manufacturer itself now, thanks to globalization and anglophonization of everything) was nicknamed škodilak, to point out how it doesn't resemble a cadillac at all.

Similarly, a wartburg (from DDR) was a warborghini, and the czechoslovakian* jawa motorbike was a javasaki.

Around 2012 and later they became quite popular here again, specially after the police and a few other services bought a few hundreds of them.
