We become friends during the vacation in Borik 1971; then went together for the next one. Between 1973 and 1977 we visited each other a few times. The last visit ended up somewhat messy so we pretty much stopped. In 1990 we were in the neighborhood of his town, but I didn't want to run up anyone's phone bill looking for him; I did call when we were far south, but by then he was just packing to go somewhere, so we had just a brief chat. Later, tried to google him out but he was nowhere.
In 1974, he was drafted, and tried to avoid the service by applying to conscientous objection route, which he failed because the day he was supposed to take the exam (!), he was in Netherlands, streaking. So he took the only remaining route: he became a cop. So to avoid getting up in arms to defend The System, he... got armed to defend the system.
